When Pat starts a new piece, she keeps an open mind as to where it will take her. It is a process dictated by a spirit of adventure, intuition and the media she is using. First is an explosion of mark making and color blocks which lays down the soul and energy before adding layers of paint and texture until a point of equilibrium and harmony is reached. That her life has been spent on or near the sea is often reflected in this energy, as well as through her palette.
