LARGE WATERCOLORS OF OSPREYS, THEIR NESTS AND PLATFORMS.

Pamela Lowell

Kayaking on the Westport and Slocum's Rivers and along the shores of Padanaram in South Dartmouth, MA, allows Pamela Lowell to capture close and intimate portraits of Ospreys, their nests, and platforms. The dramatic shadows on the platforms, the texture and uniqueness of each nest and the personality of the raptors (whether in flight or watching over their domain) are exciting challenges. Ospreys were endangered just a few decades ago, but their resurgence on the South Coast speaks to an inspired effort by scientists and local conservation groups working together--and hope for all our futures. Pamela is also the author and illustrator of the book, “My Summer With Ospreys: a Therapist’s Journey toward Hope, Community and Healing Our Planet.” Available on her website, Amazon, and bookstores. Dedicated to helping preserve and protect their habitats, a portion from the sales of all her works is donated to local environmental groups. Pamela is trained in art and studied at Rutgers University and the University of Urbino, Italy.

She has exhibited mostly on the South Coast and is also a member of Westport Art Group. A part-time psychotherapist in private practice, when not painting she can be found hiking trails with her dog, Scout, and in the summer, kayaking and photographing Ospreys along the South coast's beautiful coastlines and wetlands.
