ethods. In this studio, different methods of glasswork can be seen. I will be demonstrating lampworking and sandblasting. Lampworking is a type of glass work that uses a torch to melt and shape glass. Once the glass is heated to a molten state, it is formed by blowing and shaping with tools and hand movements. It is also known as flameworking.

Another type of glass work at this studio is glass fusing. Glass fusing is the process of layering different pieces of glass that are then melted in a kiln. This is great for making small pieces of jewelry or earrings, or slumping the flattened glass into bowls, and other 3-D shapes.

Another glass technique at this studio is bottle melting (slumping). Sandblasting can be used to then personalize the bottle. Newlyweds love to have a keepsake of their first toast as a married couple. Their wine bottle is slumped, I then sandblast their initials, wedding dates, etc.

New in the studio is sandblasting. I have been having so much fun designing glasses, vases and glass holders. I have been able to take what I learned this year and share it with my students in my after-school program. Love seeing their reactions to the finished product.

When one comes to watch the demonstration at my studio, they will wear special glasses that filter out the radiation of wavelengths and intensities that can seriously damage the eyes as well as visible light that is bright enough to make it difficult to see the work being done. Demonstrations may include bead making, glass sandblasting, mushroom, flower or jellyfish implosion pendants.

The studio is located in my easily accessed garage. There is ample parking and signs pointing the way.
