"Life of Riley," which opened in Spring 2023, is a retrospective that encapsulates thirty years of the artist's exploration into Surrealism, Symbolism, and vibrant collage art. The artist has developed a unique method, termed “Little Stories and The Big Picture,” where they repurpose materials like magazines, old books, and personal mail to create surreal narratives.
Each collage features bright colors and layers of meaning, often focusing on an animal or human figure with symbolic intent. These works tell both personal and broader stories, where the overall theme is visible from a distance, but closer inspection reveals intricate sub-stories that enrich the main narrative. This dual-layer approach not only challenges conventional collage techniques but also invites viewers to engage deeply, discovering new perspectives or twists on known tales.
Through this collection, the artist communicates contemporary issues and universal human experiences, making each piece a dialogue between the personal and the collective, reflecting on life's continuity and change.
