Artist Reflection
As a creative child with a watchful eye on my great grandmother’s treadle sewing machine and my ability to create anything from it, my use of fabric today holds memories of her creations. It came as no surprise that my love for fabric and thread met with collage adventures and unleashed an artistic muse. My aspiration is to deliver fabric collage as discerning palettes and brush strokes with pleasing interpretations of my photographs, images, and text from which I take inspiration. The canvas is then quilted and framed for wearing or hanging.

About the Artist
As a child growing up in rural western Massachusetts in the 50s, life itself was my art. I was always outside playing and making art out of nothing, out of everything. A grandfather’s love for gardening taught her how to use color palettes in planting his beloved roses. I had the good fortune of an elder weaver, neighbor, who took me under her wing for two years at the tender age of seven and eight to learn the basics of making cloth. I had a music teacher who tended to a love for music with instruments and voice. With well trained art teachers in elementary school who taught me I could make a mountain that didn’t resemble a mountain but was in fact a mountain, my art experience grew out of family and community who knew how to embrace life as an art form.
